Diabetes Education Description: Diabetes education, also called diabetes self management training, provides the knowledge, skills, and tools that people with diabetes need to successfully manage the disease and avoid many of the associated complications. Support Group Monroe County Hospital also offers a diabetes support group to the community free of charge. This group meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm in the hospital cafeteria. Topics may vary each month regarding diabetes care. No Appointment is necessary. Class Schedule The DSMEP(diabetes self management educational program) classes are scheduled by appointment only. This one-on-one education session is taught first. This session lasts approximately 1 1/2 hours. A follow up group class is recommended. Instructions include: What is diabetes?
