Betty Manning named Alabama Hospital Association's 2009 Outstanding Auxilian
 |
At the recent fall conference of the Alabama Council of Hospital Auxiliaries, Betty Manning, a volunteer at Monroe County Hospital, Monroeville, was named the Alabama Hospital Association’s 2009 Outstanding Auxilian. The award is presented to someone who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to hospitals and the patients they serve.
Betty has lived a very full life and spent the majority of it helping others,” explained Glenn C. Sisk, chairman of the Alabama Hospital Association and presenter of the 2009 Award. “She is more than deserving of this honor.”
Manning retired from her job as a payroll clerk for a Monroeville manufacturing facility and began her volunteer career at Monroe County Hospital where she has served for 37 years. While there she logged more than 8,000 volunteer service hours. She served as the Gift Shop Chairperson for 25 years ordering merchandise, provided training and managing the bookkeeping duties.
Manning still serves her community by participating in the cooking ministry and crocheting afghans for her church. She also volunteers her time and expertise assisting genealogists by researching family tree information in Monroe County and surrounding areas. Manning has seven children, loves to hunt and fish, and has been married for 62 years.
The Alabama Council of Hospital Auxiliaries is an affiliate of the Alabama Hospital Association, a state trade organization which supports hospitals in providing quality health care to their communities. |
